Black Sabbath needs no introduction. THE fathers of heavy metal and originators of the doom metal sub-genre. Formed in Birmingham, England way back in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, Black Sabbath single handedly shaped the face of rock/metal and continue to do so till this day. Fusing heavily distorted rock riffs with slow paced dissonant sounds and pained lyrics of mental illness and drug addictions Black Sabbath became the first band to really push the boundaries and move into darker territories of musical exploration.
