Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band formed in Stourbridge in 1976. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), known for their epic song structures, powerful riffs, and major influence on later thrash metal bands.
Despite never achieving major commercial success in their early years, Diamond Head became legendary through their impact on bands such as Megadeth and Metallica, who famously covered several of their songs.
Diamond Head’s sound is defined by extended song structures, melodic but heavy guitar work, and a blend of traditional heavy metal with progressive and hard rock elements. Their music often features dynamic shifts between atmospheric passages and powerful riff sections.
