'Rust In Peace' was a hit with fans and critics alike and was considered one of the best metal albums of all time; it debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200 in the US and #8 in the UK. The album presented a much tighter sound, with Mustaine's writing style taking on a rhythmically complex progressive edge. The album received Grammy nominations in the Best Metal Performance category in 1990 and 1991.
