Few bands today are able to create such a captivating atmosphere and offer direct access to another world filled with stories, wonder and uplifting melodies. This is only possible because Elvenking are masterful minstrels and skillful storytellers, weaving their tales of sorrow and grief, of hope and powerful spells into our world like the Norns of Norse mythology. Not many bands today understand heavy metal the way Elvenking do: they not only deliver moving music, but also create an entire universe.
Reminiscences of Maiden, early Blind Guardian, Skyclad or In Flames permeate their music without taking anything away from the sheer originality of these massive songs. Elvenking are increasingly masters at combining catchy melodies and huge choruses with a complex fantasy atmosphere and expansive instrumental parts, slowly but surely proving themselves to be the natural heirs to the throne of metal high priests such as Helloween, Avantasia or their biggest influence Skyclad.
In their sagas, Elvenking conjure up the feeling of another world and whisk us away to a fantasy realm where the moon sings to you, strange creatures bathe in starlight and magic is omnipresent. Not many bands are still able to do that. “We miss the way music, and metal in particular, was once conceived,” Aydan agrees. “The times when discovery and sharing played a big role, without all the digital and social media aspects.” Elvenking are remedying this - by single-handedly bringing magic and wonder back to the world of heavy metal.
