The new album 'An Unexpected Reality' shows Gatecreeper as we have never never heard them before. It explores two opposing sides of the band's musical personality of the band. Side one consists of seven short, sharp Songs with a total running time of less than seven minutes.
Inspired by grind, punk and hardcore, tracks like "Starved", "Rusted Gold" and "Amputation" are some of the fastest fastest offerings ever recorded by Arizona's death metal team. Side two is the exact opposite. Consisting of a single 11-minute track entitled titled "Emptiness", this is Gatecreeper at its slowest and most entertaining form. Think of it as an extended version of the death-doom tracks that the Band ended "Sonoran Depravation" and "Deserted" with.
