The 21st century provides breakdowns and highlights! On May 15, 2009, the new Green Day album '21st Century Breakdown' was released, which, like 'American Idiot', once again brings everything important to the point. 'American Idiot' was released in 2004, won two Grammys, went high in the charts just about everywhere and sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.
Back in 2006 Billie Joe Armstrong (guit, voc), Mike Dirnt (b) and Tre Cool (dr) started working on '21st Century Breakdown'. Together with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage) they put the finishing touches on the album.
'21st Century Breakdown' is also a clearly structured punk album, consisting of three parts "Heroes And Cons", "Charlatan And Saints" and "Horseshoes And Handgrenades". The story accompanies the young Couple Christian and Gloria through the promise and chaos of the early years of this century. Rolling Stone called '21st Century Breakdown' "even more ambitious than 'American Idiot'".
