In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Waxwork Records is proud to present Hans Zimmer's original score to 'The Ring'. This long-awaited release marks the first time "The Ring" will be available on vinyl.
'The Ring' is a 2002 supernatural horror film directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Naomi Watts and Brian Cox. It is a remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film 'Ringu' by Hideo Nakata, which is based on the 1991 novel of the same name by Koji Suzuki. The plot follows a journalist investigating an urban legend about a cursed videotape that seemingly kills the viewer seven days after viewing.
'The Ring' was released in theaters on October 18, 2002 and received positive reviews praising the atmosphere, visuals and Watt's performance. It is one of the most successful horror remakes and paved the way for English-language remakes of other Asian horror films such as 'The Grudge' and 'Dark Water'.
Composed by Hans Zimmer, the score is a dark symphonic orchestration that ranges from ghostly and melancholic to frightening and terrorizing. Starting with a piano, violins, a synthesizer and two cellos, Zimmer's score brings the listener into the haunted space of "The Ring" with frightening strings, melancholy keys and rolling percussion instruments. Zimmer creates a shadowy atmosphere that draws the listener into the gripping ghost story.
Waxwork Records is pleased to present the complete score to "The Ring", composed by Hans Zimmer, for the first time on vinyl as a deluxe double LP to mark the 20th anniversary of the film. The 180 gram vinyl features a heavyweight gatefold jacket with matte satin coating, new art and design by Matt Needle, exclusive liner notes by director Gore Verbinski, a 12 "x12" printed insert and enthusiastic album packaging approvals by director Verbinski and composer Hans Zimmer.
