After Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice had played several world tours together as Heaven & Hell, they had grown back together both musically and as people. Since they all agreed that it would be a shame not to make music together after the tour, the quartet began writing songs. With this goal in mind, the band once again went to Rockfield Studios in Wales, the same place where they had recorded their last album "Dehumanizer" 17 years earlier. The result is "THE DEVIL YOU KNOW", which contains exactly 10 songs of the Black Sabbath variety led by Dio. "Bible Black" is one of the first songs written for the album and, according to Dio, gave the guideline for the rest of the album
