It was released on October 2, 1970 in the United Kingdom by Harvest and on October 10, 1970 in the United States by Capitol Records. This was the first album by Pink Floyd to reach #1 in the UK charts.
This album was commercially successful upon its release, but the band members, especially Roger Waters and David Gilmour, had several negative opinions about it.
