'Effigy of the Forgotten' is the debut full-length album by New York based death metal band Suffocation, originally released in 1991. The cover artwork was created by Dan Seagrave, and the album is considered one of the most important of the genre, inspiring a whole sub-genre termed 'slam metal' as well creating a benchmark for technically-minded extreme metal.
