Sixth British and eighth American studio album by the British rock band, originally released in 1967. The band experimented with a psychedelic sound on 'Satanic Majesties', incorporating unconventional elements such as Mellotron, sound effects, string arrangements, and African rhythms.
'Their Satanic Majesties Request' is saturated with studio effects, non-traditional instruments, ambient sounds, string arrangements and percussive elements. "Citadel" gave a foretaste of the direction the Stones would take towards straightforward rock. "2000 Light Years from Home" and "She's a Rainbow" show the Stones in all their psychedelic glory, while "Sing This All Together", "Gomper" and "On with the Show" move from traditional song structure to free freakout.
