Just in time for the band's 35th anniversary and the 60th birthday of frontman David Coverdale, the ultimate box set about the early years of the English hard rock band Whitesnake was released with "Box 'O' Snakes - The Sunburst Years 1978-1982". The celebrated and sought-after, but also extremely expensive high-class edition in LP format has since been removed from the program. However, a slimmed-down version is now being released and, logically and amusingly, it is called "Little Box 'O' Snakes - The Sunburst Years 1978-1982".
OK, the DVD and (for legal reasons) the two BBC concert recordings from the Reading festivals in 1979 and 1980 are no longer included here and instead of a 90-page book, there are only 16 pages of booklet, but in musical terms everything else is based on the 2011 remaster: With "Trouble" (1978), "Love Hunter" (1979), "Ready An' Willing" (1980), "Come An' Get It" (1981) and "Saints An' Sinners" (1982), each of the studio albums from the consecutive 5 years of the aforementioned period can be found, as well as the two live albums from 1978 ("Live At Hammersmith") and 1980 ("Live ... In The Heart Of The City").
Finally, the white vinyl EP "Snakebite" included at the time has also been converted into a normal 4-track CD. Above all, however, the price has also been slimmed down, as the smaller version should be available for around a quarter of the previous price.
