Released in 1997, 'The More Things Change...' is the second studio album by Machine Head. Standing as the crucial bridge between their iconic debut and more melodic, experimental later eras, the record combines heavy thrash roots with gothic flourishes, sludgier tempos, and hardcore punk influence.

A second album is always a difficult test for a band - especially when the debut is such an outstanding work as Machine Head’s 1994 milestone 'Burn My Eyes'. While the catchy, riff-driven structures of 'Burn My Eyes' are still present to a certain extent, the overall sound felt significantly more stripped-down and raw.

The album picks up seamlessly where the debut left off, starting with the opening double-header “Ten Ton Hammer” and “Take My Scars.” Both songs combine extremely rousing riffs with Rob Flynn’s unmistakable vocal style - with fantastic results.
