Tankard are a thrash metal band from Frankfurt, Germany, founded in 1982. Together with Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard are often referred to as the "Big Teutonic 4" of German thrash metal. They released their first album in 1986 and have since continued writing and recording as they started: with fast thrash metal over beer and alcohol.
Tankard's last album released through Noise was the self-titled 'The Tankard' in 1995. While it retained the more serious side already evident on its predecessor 'Two-Faced', its sound was a melting pot of their trademark thrash of usual speed and power, set with a good dash of hardcore and a pinch of melody and refined with some of their catchiest choruses to date. In the same year, they restored the humorous balance by starting a side project in which they covered German-language songs in a punk/metal style - much to the delight of their many fans.
