Brujeria are a Mexican-American extreme metal band formed in 1989, known for their blend of death metal, grindcore, and industrial-influenced brutality. The group operates with a highly theatrical and controversial aesthetic, presenting themselves as a secretive collective with themes drawn from drug cartels, politics, religion, and social satire.
Despite their fictionalised outlaw personas, Brujeria are composed of well-known musicians from the extreme metal scene, performing under pseudonyms and maintaining an air of anonymity as part of the project’s concept.
Brujeria’s sound is defined by down-tuned guitars, aggressive blast-driven sections, and raw, heavily distorted production. Their music combines grindcore speed with death metal heaviness, often interspersed with sampled dialogue and industrial textures.
