The Dead Weather is an American rock supergroup formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009. Known for their raw energy and dark, blues-driven sound, the band quickly captured attention with a mix of garage rock grit, heavy riffs, and haunting vocals.
Debuting live at the opening of Third Man Records’ Nashville headquarters on March 11, 2009, The Dead Weather brought together four powerhouse musicians: Alison Mosshart (vocals, rhythm guitar), Jack White (drums, vocals, guitar), Dean Fertita (lead guitar, keyboards), and Jack Lawrence (bass). Each member was already acclaimed for their work in bands such as The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Kills, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Greenhornes, making The Dead Weather a true supergroup.
Their debut album, Horehound (2009), introduced fans to their moody, fuzz-drenched sound and included tracks like “Treat Me Like Your Mother” and “Hang You from the Heavens.” They followed with Sea of Cowards (2010), further pushing boundaries with experimental tones and aggressive blues-rock grooves. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2015 with Dodge and Burn, solidifying their reputation as one of the most innovative rock projects of the 21st century.
With their distinctive mix of garage rock, blues, and alternative influences, The Dead Weather continue to stand out for their dark aesthetic, powerful live shows, and the undeniable chemistry between its members.
