Creed were an American rock band formed in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1994. The classic lineup featured Scott Stapp (lead vocals), Mark Tremonti (guitar, vocals), Brian Marshall (bass), and Scott Phillips (drums). With their powerful blend of post-grunge, hard rock, and alternative sounds, Creed became one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Creed burst onto the scene with their debut album My Own Prison (1997), which produced several hit singles and quickly went multi-platinum. Their follow-up, Human Clay (1999), solidified their status as global rock icons, driven by the anthemic single Higher and the Grammy Award-winning With Arms Wide Open.
After Marshall’s departure in 2000, Tremonti took over on bass for their third album, Weathered (2001), which topped the Billboard charts and included hits such as My Sacrifice and One Last Breath. Despite disbanding in 2004—with Stapp pursuing a solo career and Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips forming Alter Bridge—Creed’s music continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
