Static Dress are an English rock band from Leeds, West Yorkshire, formed in 2018. Blending post-hardcore urgency with a sharp visual identity and a distinctly early-2000s influence, they have quickly positioned themselves as one of the UK’s most talked-about modern heavy acts.

The band currently consists of vocalist Olli Appleyard, drummer Sam Ogden, bassist George Holding, and guitarist Vincent Weight — previously known under the anonymous masked persona “Contrast”, before later being publicly unmasked. That theatrical edge has always been part of Static Dress’ appeal, but it’s the music that anchors everything: angular riffs, restless rhythms and emotionally charged vocals that shift between fragility and force.
Since forming in 2018, Static Dress have built a steady following through carefully released singles, immersive artwork, and a strong visual narrative that runs alongside their music. Now signed to Roadrunner Records, the band continue to expand their reach while maintaining the rawness and intensity that first defined them. Their sound balances aggression with atmosphere, pairing explosive sections with moments of restraint and reflection — familiar in spirit to early post-hardcore influences, but delivered with contemporary precision.
