Empire State Bastard is an extreme music project founded by Simon Neil and Mike Vennart of Biffy Clyro. Pushing far beyond the boundaries of their main band’s sound, Empire State Bastard dive deep into the realms of grindcore, sludge, and experimental metal, creating a ferocious and uncompromising sonic assault.
Formed by longtime collaborators Simon Neil (vocals) and Mike Vennart (guitars), Empire State Bastard was born from a shared love of the heaviest and most abrasive music imaginable. The project takes influence from underground extreme metal and hardcore punk, combining blistering riffs, chaotic tempos, and unrelenting vocals to produce a sound that is as confrontational as it is inventive.
The band’s lineup has also featured Dave Lombardo (drums) of Slayer and Testament fame, whose legendary playing brings a relentless intensity to the project, alongside Naomi Macleod (bass), further solidifying Empire State Bastard’s status as a force to be reckoned with in extreme music.
