Vital Remains are an American death metal band formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1988 by guitarist Tony Lazaro. Emerging from the early American extreme metal underground, the band became known for combining brutal death metal aggression with blackened atmosphere, anti-religious themes, and highly technical guitar work.
