Mordred are a cult American thrash metal band from San Francisco, celebrated for their bold fusion of Bay Area thrash, funk, and crossover metal. Active during a fiercely creative period between 1989 and 1994, the band stood apart from their peers by pushing genre boundaries while retaining the aggression and attitude of classic thrash.
Their debut album Fool’s Game (1989) captured the raw spirit of the Bay Area scene, packed with sharp riffs and uncompromising energy. Follow-up release In This Life (1991) saw Mordred expand their sound even further, drawing comparisons to crossover innovators such as Faith No More, and cementing their reputation as one of thrash metal’s most inventive acts.
After disbanding in 1995, Mordred reunited in 2001, returning to the stage in their hometown of San Francisco. Following years of anticipation, the band eventually made their long-awaited return with new material, proving their creative fire never faded.
