GosT was the stage name of American musician and producer James Cody Lollar (March 16, 1980 – April 1, 2026), also known under the alias Baalberith. Originally from Longview, Texas, James Cody Lollar was active from 2013 until his death in 2026, creating a distinctive blend of Black Metal, Industrial Music and dark electronic sound design.
GosT debuted in January 2013 with the EP Radio Macabre, followed shortly afterwards by The Night Prowler in February and Nocturnal Shift in April, with the latter released through the Athens-based label Werkstatt Recordings. The full-length album Skull followed later that same year, helping establish GosT as one of the more aggressive and uncompromising artists associated with darker electronic music.
Rather than following the more nostalgic direction often associated with synthwave, GosT developed a harsher and far more aggressive sound built around distortion-heavy production, mechanical rhythms and bleak atmosphere. The project drew heavily from black metal and industrial music, creating a style focused less on accessibility and more on tension, weight and unease.
Across later releases, James Cody Lollar continued expanding the project’s sonic scope while maintaining its cold, dystopian identity. Occult imagery, horror influences and apocalyptic themes remained central throughout both the music and visual presentation, giving GosT a consistently oppressive and cinematic character.
Live performances further amplified this atmosphere, presenting GosT as an immersive and high-intensity experience centred more on mood and confrontation than conventional stage theatrics.
