Killswitch Engage are an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999. Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern metalcore, the band helped define the New Wave of American Heavy Metal by fusing the melody of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal with the aggression of hardcore punk and the precision of thrash metal.
