Acid are a Belgian heavy metal band formed in Bruges, Belgium in 1980. Led by vocalist and bassist Kate de Lombaert, the band became one of the earliest female-fronted acts in the European metal scene, developing a reputation for their fast, aggressive sound and uncompromising approach to heavy music.
Combining elements of Heavy metal, Speed metal and early Thrash influences, Acid created a distinctive style built around powerful riffs, energetic performances and raw intensity. Their music helped establish them as an important name in the underground metal movement of the early 1980s, inspiring future generations of extreme and traditional metal bands.
Formed during the rise of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the growing European metal scene, Acid quickly gained attention for their unique sound and fearless stage presence. The band's combination of speed, aggression and melodic songwriting set them apart from many of their contemporaries, while Kate de Lombaert's commanding vocals made them one of the most recognisable acts of the era.
