Unanimated are a Swedish melodic blackened death metal band formed in Stockholm in 1988. Emerging from the early Scandinavian extreme metal underground, the band became highly influential for their distinctive fusion of Swedish death metal brutality, black metal atmosphere, and melodic guitar-driven songwriting.
Although their early career was relatively brief, Unanimated achieved cult status through a series of landmark releases that helped shape the evolution of melodic black metal and blackened death metal throughout the 1990s.
