Gang of Four are an English post-punk band formed in Leeds in 1976. Known for their groundbreaking fusion of punk rock, funk, and dub, their sparse and angular sound, combined with sharp, politically charged lyrics, made them one of the most influential bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their debut album Entertainment! (1979) is widely celebrated as a classic, earning a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest punk albums of all time.
The original lineup featured Jon King (vocals), Andy Gill (guitar), Dave Allen (bass), and Hugo Burnham (drums). Together, they created a sound that challenged the conventions of punk and rock, laying the foundation for generations of alternative and indie musicians to follow.
