Stray from the Path formed in 2001 in Long Island, New York, and have spent the years since refining a sound that fuses hardcore punk urgency with metallic groove and sharp-edged social commentary. Never ones to soften their message, the band built a loyal global following through relentless touring and records that rarely aim below the chin.
Rooted in hardcore but unafraid to incorporate hip-hop rhythms, crushing breakdowns and politically charged lyrics, Stray from the Path have consistently balanced groove with confrontation.
Over eleven full-length albums, the band evolved without losing their bite. The long-standing line-up of Drew York (vocals), Tom Williams (guitar), Anthony Altamura (bass) and Craig Reynolds (drums) defined their modern era — tight, rhythm-heavy and unapologetically direct.
Drew York’s vocal approach has always been clear and forceful, delivering pointed social and political commentary without dressing it up. Tom Williams’ riff work brought the groove-laden backbone that set the band apart from more straightforward hardcore acts. Anthony Altamura reinforced that low-end punch, while Craig Reynolds’ dynamic drumming gave the songs both weight and swing.
On 30 May 2025, Stray from the Path surprise-released their eleventh and final album, Clockworked, and announced that they would be disbanding at the end of 2025 after completing their remaining tour commitments. Rather than fade out quietly, they chose to leave on their own terms — direct to the last.
