Unleashed are a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1989 by bassist/vocalist Johnny Hedlund following his departure from Nihilist. As one of the “Big Four” pioneers of the Swedish death metal scene, Unleashed have played a central role in defining the Stockholm sound and later helped pioneer the Viking death metal subgenre.
Across more than three decades, Unleashed have remained committed to a raw, melodic, and mythologically driven form of death metal, heavily inspired by Norse history, warfare, and ancient spirituality.
