Waysted were a British hard rock band, formed in 1982 by former UFO bassist Pete Way and Scottish rocker Fin Muir (Ian Muir). Early recruits included Frank Noon (formerly with Def Leppard), Ronnie Kayfield, and Paul Raymond. The band quickly signed to Chrysalis Records and released their debut album, Vices (1983), establishing a street-level, no-nonsense hard rock sound.
From the outset, Waysted favoured a tougher, rawer approach than much of the polished rock dominating the era. Fronted by Fin Muir, the band combined tight musicianship with an aggressive edge that translated equally well to club stages and studio recordings. Vices perfectly captured this attitude, setting a blueprint for the albums that followed.
The band went through multiple line-up changes over the years, with members leaving, rejoining, and departing again, as well as periods of dormancy while Pete Way pursued other projects. Waysted split up in 1987, but later reformed in 2003. In 2008, the band toured the UK in support of their then-new album The Harsh Reality, though they did not release any further material after that. Pete Way passed away on 14 August 2020 from injuries sustained in an accident, marking the end of an era for the band and their fans.
