Gadget are a powerviolence band from Gävle, Gävleborg, Sweden, known for their blistering speed, aggressive riffs, and uncompromising approach to extreme music. Combining the intensity of hardcore with the raw ferocity of grindcore, Gadget have earned a reputation for chaotic, high-octane performances that resonate deeply within the underground scene.
In 1997, William Blackmon’s old hardcore band Abigail had a side-project called Gadget, where members switched instruments and played powerviolence/fastcore, with William Blackmon handling vocals. That version of the band recorded a single demo before splitting up alongside Abigail.
In 1998, William Blackmon formed a short-lived grindcore band called Leviathan with soon-to-be Gadget vocalist Emil Englund and two other friends. That project also ended shortly after recording its only demo.
By late 1999, William Blackmon started a new grindcore project, reusing the name Gadget. Initially intending to handle everything himself, he soon realised it was too demanding, so he recruited guitarist Rikard Olsson. The duo wrote ten songs and recorded their first demo in February 2000, with both handling guitar and bass duties while William took care of drums and vocals, as a suitable drummer had yet to be found.
Shortly after, Emil Englund joined as a stand-in vocalist to allow live performances, eventually becoming a full member while William focused on drums. Several bass players passed through until the band recruited Fredrik Nygren in 2003.
The current line-up of Gadget features William Blackmon on guitars, drums, and vocals (1997, 1999–present), Rikard Olsson on guitars (1999–present), Fredrik Nygren on bass (2002–present), with Kristofer Jankarls joining on guitars and vocals in 2023, and Emilia Henriksson on vocals, also joining in 2023.
Drawing inspiration from American powerviolence pioneers like Crossed Out, Infest, and Man Is the Bastard, Gadget soon became a key name in the European extreme music scene. Their relentless touring and consistent output established them as one of the foremost powerviolence acts in Europe.

Availability shifts as designs rotate, so if a particular shirt catches your eye, it’s worth grabbing it while it’s there. We also occasionally carry Gadget releases on CD and vinyl, though clothing remains the main focus here. We’re actively exploring additional official items like hoodies.
Fans of Nasum, Rotten Sound, and Lock Up will find Gadget fits comfortably in that lineage — chaotic, fast, and brutally intense.
