Turnstile are an American hardcore punk band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2010 and widely recognised for pushing the genre into more open, fluid territory. Rooted in hardcore, their sound stretches beyond its usual boundaries, pulling in elements of alternative, groove, and melody without losing its direct impact.
Rather than sticking rigidly to expectations, Turnstile have built a catalogue that feels both immediate and forward-looking. Their music works just as well in packed, chaotic venues as it does through repeated listens, where the finer details start to come through. It’s still hardcore at its core, just with a broader sense of what that can be.
The current line-up features Brendan Yates on vocals, Pat McCrory and Meg Mills on guitars, Franz Lyons on bass, and Daniel Fang on drums, each contributing to a sound that balances tight musicianship with a loose, almost instinctive feel.
