Paw comprised brothers Grant Fitch on guitar and Peter Fitch on drums, Mark Hennessy on vocals and Charles Bryan on bass, and originally formed in 1990.
With their demos creating a bidding war among the major labels, they eventually signed to A&M, then home to grunge and hard rock peers Soundgarden and Monster Magnet, with their major label debut issued in 1993.
Tours with Tool, Raging Slab and label-mates Monster Magnet ensued, leading to an appearance at the 1994 Reading Rock Festival. Their profile was further raised Stateside with videos clips on MTV for the singles ‘Sleeping Bag’, ‘Couldn’t Know’ and their most well-known song, ‘Jessie’.
