Temple of the Dog were an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. The project was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and came together quickly, driven by emotion rather than long-term plans.
Temple of the Dog was created as a tribute to Cornell’s close friend Andrew Wood, the late frontman of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The resulting music is rooted in grief, respect, and reflection, capturing a unique moment in the Seattle scene with sincerity and restraint. Blending elements of grunge, alternative rock, and heartfelt songwriting, the band produced a sound that resonates deeply with listeners even decades later.
