Haemorrhage are a Spanish goregrind / Death metal band from Madrid, Spain, widely recognized for their brutal, blood-soaked sound and uncompromising dedication to the goregrind genre. Known for blending grindcore speed, death metal heaviness, and shocking lyrical themes, Haemorrhage have been a cornerstone of European extreme metal since the early 1990s.
Haemorrhage formed in 1990 as Devourment, beginning as a trio with Jose on bass and vocals, Luisma on guitar, and Emilio on drums, though this lineup lasted only until the summer of 1991 when Emilio left the band. The group soon reformed as a duo, with Luisma on guitar and Jose on drums, both performing vocals. This lineup released the first demo under the name Haemorrhage, marking the beginning of their goregrind legacy.
Over the years, Haemorrhage developed a signature style combining fast, relentless blast beats, guttural vocals, and guitar riffs drenched in horror and gore imagery. The band’s lyrical content focuses heavily on gore, medical horror, and splatter-themed narratives, creating an unmistakable aesthetic both sonically and visually. The band’s album artwork is created by Luisma himself, adding a unique personal touch to their releases.
The current lineup features Luis Manuel Quiroga (Luisma) on lead guitar and backing vocals, Fernando Errazquin (Lugubrious) on lead vocals, Ramón Checa on bass and backing vocals, Ana Belén de López on rhythm guitar, and David Daviti Vaquero on drums. Luisma is married to Ana Belén de López, highlighting the personal connection within the band.
