Yeah Yeah Yeahs came out of New York at the turn of the millennium and quickly made a name for themselves with sharp riffs and a fearless front person. Their sound sits in that sweet spot between indie rock grit and art school edge, loud enough to turn heads and clever enough to stick.
Karen O’s voice does most of the heavy lifting, flipping from raw yelps to something more measured without warning. Backed by Nick Zinner’s angular guitar lines and Brian Chase’s tight drumming, the band have built a catalogue that still feels urgent years on. If you like your indie rock with bite and a bit of swagger, Yeah Yeah Yeahs fit the bill nicely.
