Soulburn are a Dutch blackened death metal band, originally formed in the mid-1990s by members of Asphyx as a separate outlet for darker, more occult-leaning material. Their music combines death metal weight with black metal atmosphere, creating a sound that is both brutal and deliberately ominous.

Originally, Soulburn emerged after the first demise of Asphyx in the mid-’90s, when founding members Eric Daniels (guitars) and Bob Bagchus (drums) sought a new outlet to channel their mutual obsession with Bathory and Venom. After releasing a demo and their cult debut album Feeding on Angels (1998) via Century Media Records — featuring Wannes Gubbels (Pentacle) on vocals and bass — Soulburn was put to rest when Asphyx returned with On the Wings of Inferno (2000) using the same lineup.
Sixteen years after their debut, Soulburn resurfaced with a new lineup: Eric Daniels (guitars) and Bob Bagchus (drums) returned, joined by Twan van Geel (Legion of the Damned) on vocals and bass and Remco Kreft (Graceless, Grand Supreme Bloodcourt, ex-Nailgun Massacre) on second guitar, producing the album The Suffocating Darkness.
In June 2018, Bob Bagchus departed the band and was replaced by Marc Verhaar (Graceless, ex-Nailgun Massacre, ex-Xenomorph). This current lineup recorded their fourth full-length album, Noa’s D’ark, which was released on 13th November 2020 through Century Media Records.
Soulburn have always balanced crushing riffs, grim atmosphere, and dark melodic undertones, making them a standout in both death and blackened metal circles.
