Stuart Leslie Goddard — better known as Adam Ant — is one of the defining British voices of the early-80s new wave/post-punk crossover. First breaking through as the frontman of Adam and the Ants and then as a solo artist, he rattled off a serious run of hits in the UK from 1980 to 1983, including three No.1 singles. Beyond the songs, he’s remembered for a bold, theatrical visual identity that made the whole thing feel like a proper world, not just a band.
If you’re dipping in for the first time, the essential listening is split between the late Ants era and the early solo run: albums like Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming for the big, percussive, swaggering band sound, then Friend or Foe for the early solo pivot (still hooky, still sharp, just aimed differently). It’s pop music, but with teeth and a very British sense of character.
This category is audio-only for now — we stock Adam Ant on CD and vinyl. Availability can change as we re-stock, so if you see a title you’ve been after, it’s worth grabbing while it’s here.
