Abraham are a Swiss heavy music collective operating in the space between Doom, Sludge, Post-metal, and emotionally dense experimental rock. Their sound is built on long-form structures, gradual build-ups, and a strong emphasis on atmosphere over immediacy. It’s heavy music, but with a patient streak — the kind that prefers slow escalation to instant impact.
Abraham originally formed under the name Le Baron Vampire in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2007, put together by Kruger guitarist Jacques Vierdaz alongside a group of university friends who likely had more time, noise tolerance, and rehearsal access than was strictly necessary.
The band later became Abraham and began refining a heavier, more expansive identity that would eventually define their place in the European underground. Over the years they’ve shared stages with Celan, Knut, Kruger, Mumakil and many others operating in adjacent corners of the heavy music spectrum.
The current line-up consists of Valentino Di Cabillo on bass, Dave Schlagmeister on drums and vocals, Jacques Viredaz on guitars, and Steven Margo Dita D’Oro also on guitars. A straightforward setup on paper, though the end result tends to suggest otherwise.
Across their work, Abraham focus on contrast and structure rather than straightforward heaviness. Tracks often move from restrained, minimal passages into dense, distorted climaxes, with repetition used as a tool rather than a foundation. The emphasis is always on tension and release, rather than constant intensity.
Their music sits comfortably within the broader post-metal tradition, favouring atmosphere, pacing, and weight over immediacy or excess.
Abraham’s recorded output shows a steady evolution in scale, texture, and compositional control:
Each release expands on their core approach — heavy, atmospheric music shaped as much by space and repetition as by distortion.
All Abraham releases we carry are high-quality CD and vinyl, sourced from authorised labels and trusted distributors. We focus strictly on audio formats — CD and vinyl.
Stock rotates regularly, so if something catches your eye it’s worth picking it up while available. We’re also working to expand the range with T-shirts and hoodies in the near future. Alongside the audio selection, a small number of apparel items may occasionally be available.
Fans of Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and ISIS will likely find that Abraham fits seamlessly alongside these acts, offering music tailored for listeners who appreciate slow-burning heaviness, precise dynamic shifts, and deeply immersive soundscapes. Their records unfold with patience, blending the crushing weight of post-metal with atmosphere and a carefully controlled intensity that lingers long after listening.
