Francis Dominic Nicholas Michael Rossi, OBE is an English musician best known as the co-founder, lead singer, and lead guitarist of the legendary rock band Status Quo. As the sole continuous member of the group, Rossi has been at the heart of Status Quo’s enduring success for over five decades, helping to shape the sound of classic British rock.
Born in London in 1949, Francis Rossi co-founded Status Quo in the early 1960s, guiding the band through their evolution from psychedelic rock beginnings into their trademark boogie rock style. With hits like Rockin’ All Over the World, Whatever You Want, and Down Down, Rossi’s signature guitar riffs and distinctive vocals have become synonymous with the band’s sound.
In addition to his work with Status Quo, Rossi has also pursued solo projects, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and performer. His career has earned him an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in recognition of his contributions to music.
