Aphex Twin is the best-known alias of Richard D. James, a British electronic artist raised in Cornwall. His music can move from warm ambient to sharp-edged techno and acid, with plenty of left turns along the way.
Often linked with IDM and experimental electronic music, he is known for pushing sound design and rhythm into strange places, while still landing hooks that get stuck in your head. It is clever stuff, but it still hits, which is the whole point.
