Lefay are a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Bollnäs, Sweden, born from the ashes of the legendary Morgana Lefay. Combining the power of classic heavy metal with dark, melodic songwriting, Lefay carried forward the spirit of their predecessor — crafting music that’s intense, intelligent, and unmistakably Scandinavian.
The story of Lefay begins in 1986, when the band first emerged under the name Damage. After renaming themselves Morgana Lefay in 1989, they independently released their now highly sought-after debut album Symphony of the Damned, which soon led to a record deal with Black Mark Productions — home to many of metal’s cult heroes.
Following Morgana Lefay’s disbandment in 1997, a dispute over the rights to the original name gave rise to Lefay, a new incarnation led by vocalist Charles Rytkönen and guitarist Tony Eriksson, joined by former Dark Tranquillity drummer Robin Engström.
Under the Lefay banner, the band recorded three albums that carried their signature sound — heavy, melodic, and full of dark atmosphere — before reforming once again as Morgana Lefay in 2004, reuniting with Black Mark to continue their legacy.
With their roots in Swedish metal’s golden era, Lefay remain a name revered by fans of classic power and heavy metal — proof that great music never truly fades.
