Maruja formed in Manchester in 2014 and quickly moved from underground curiosity to one of the most talked about experimental acts in the UK. Their sound is restless and confrontational, built on tension, sudden shifts and a willingness to push things until they snap.
Improvisation sits at the core of what Maruja do, with little separation between how songs are written, recorded or performed live. That approach gives their releases a sense of movement and unpredictability, capturing the same raw force that defines their shows.
Through constant gigging and word of mouth, Maruja have built a growing cult following drawn to their commitment to atmosphere, emotional release and creative freedom. It is challenging music, but deeply rewarding if you lean into it.
