Slaughter are a Canadian death/thrash metal band formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1984. They are widely regarded as one of the earliest extreme metal bands from Canada, blending raw thrash metal with early death metal brutality.
Slaughter’s sound is defined by extremely raw production, aggressive riffing, and a primitive but influential fusion of thrash metal and early death metal elements. Their music is often chaotic, heavy, and intentionally unpolished.
The band are considered pioneers in the development of extreme metal in Canada during the 1980s.
Strappado (1987) – cult classic debut album widely regarded as one of the earliest death/thrash records, known for its raw intensity and grim atmosphere.
Not Dead Yet/Paranormal (2001) – compilation release collecting early demos and rare material, showcasing the band’s formative years.
Not Dead Yet (2011) – comeback-era release continuing their legacy of raw, aggressive extreme metal.
Slaughter are considered one of the foundational Canadian extreme metal bands, influencing both early death metal and raw thrash scenes with their uncompromising sound.
