WAKE are an extreme metal band from Canada, known for refusing to stand still. From their earliest material through to more recent releases, their sound has continually shifted — pulling from grindcore, death metal, and atmospheric extremes without settling into any one space for too long.
That sense of movement is central to WAKE. Each release feels like a deliberate step forward rather than a repeat of what came before, with intensity matched by a growing sense of depth and structure.
2020’s Devouring Ruin made that progression unmistakable, pushing their sound into darker, more expansive territory. The Confluence EP, released the same year, reinforced that direction, while Thought Form Descent (2022) stands as their most dynamic and emotionally charged work to date — varied, deliberate, and unafraid to stretch beyond genre expectations.
The current lineup is Kyle Ball (vocals), Arjun Gill (guitar), Rob LaChance (guitar), Ryan Kennedy (bass), and Josh Bueckert (drums), a group that continues to drive the band’s evolving and uncompromising sound.
