Unearthed from the dirt where fallen idols lay, LIK emerged in 2014 as a new force of pure, uncompromising old-school death metal. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, LIK — which literally means “corpse” in Swedish — honour the legacy of classic Scandinavian death metal while injecting it with fresh fury and modern precision.
Formed in Stockholm by a group of seasoned Swedish metal musicians, LIK features Tomas Åkvik (vocals, guitar), Niklas Sandin (guitar), Joakim Antman (bass), and Chris Barkensjö (drums). Each member brings deep roots in the Swedish extreme metal scene, combining technical skill with a passion for the brutal, buzzsaw-driven sound that defines Stockholm death metal.
Their debut album, Mass Funeral Evocation (2015), reintroduced fans to that unmistakable Swedish death metal tone — raw, filthy, and fiercely melodic. Follow-ups Carnage (2018) and Misanthropic Breed (2020) cemented LIK’s place as one of the leading bands carrying the torch for traditional death metal, delivering unrelenting energy and authentic old-school spirit.
LIK’s sound is a visceral blend of aggression and atmosphere, taking cues from genre greats like Entombed, Dismember, and Grave, while forging their own identity in the new wave of Scandinavian death metal.
