Angine de Poitrine are a Canadian rock duo formed in the Chicoutimi borough of Saguenay, Quebec, in 2019. The group consists of anonymous musicians performing under the pseudonyms Khn de Poitrine on guitar and Klek de Poitrine on drums, giving the band an intentionally mysterious identity within the Canadian underground music scene.
Their music, described as “Pythagorean-Cubist Dada-rock Mantra”, centres on guitarist Khn de Poitrine's microtonal double-necked guitar and bass, using real-time looping alongside drummer Klek de Poitrine's complex rhythms and frequent time-signature changes. The resulting sound combines experimental rock, unconventional tuning and intricate rhythmic structures to create an intensely distinctive musical approach.
The duo's decision to perform under pseudonyms and remain anonymous has become an integral part of their identity, creating an element of mystery around their music and live presence. Rather than relying on a conventional band image, Angine de Poitrine place the emphasis on their music and the unusual interaction between guitar, bass, looping and drums.
Their stripped-back instrumentation gives their performances an immediate and uncompromising character, with Khn's microtonal approach and real-time looping creating constantly shifting layers around Klek's intricate drumming. Frequent changes in time signature and the unconventional tuning of the double-necked instrument allow the duo to explore a sound that sits outside straightforward rock structures.
Angine de Poitrine's international profile grew significantly in March 2026 after a KEXP video of their performance at Trans Musicales in Rennes surpassed 18 million views, bringing their distinctive approach to a much wider audience. Despite the increased attention, the duo's anonymity and experimental approach remain central to their identity.
