Soars is a solo project by Swedish musician and songwriter Kristian Karlsson, best known as a producing member of Cult of Luna and pg.lost. Since launching the project, Karlsson has been steadily building a reputation for cinematic, textured post-rock that merges synth-driven atmospheres with dynamic instrumentation.
About Soars
Kristian Karlsson handles the bulk of the creative work in Soars, writing, recording, and producing the music himself. The debut album, Enfold (2021), made waves in the post-rock community, and the vinyl pressing sold out quickly. Following this, Repeater (2023) continues the journey, featuring the powerful drumming of Christian Augustin (Stiu Nu Stiu, live drummer of Cult of Luna) and Karlsson’s charismatic synth melodies.
Karlsson cites influences ranging from Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre to post-rock acts like God is An Astronaut, Caspian, and Mogwai. Yet his music maintains a personal identity: “Soars is a personal journey and expression of a sound that has been developed over the years,” he explains. The result is cinematic post-rock with emotional depth, atmospheric layering, and unmistakable artistry.
