Mantas were a pioneering Death metal band from Orlando, Florida, formed in 1983 and named after guitarist Jeffrey "Mantas" Dunn. The band changed their name to Death in late 1984, laying the foundations for one of the most influential acts in extreme metal history.
The original line-up included Kam Lee (drums), Rick Rozz (guitar), and Charles "Evil Chuck" Schuldiner (guitars, vocals). Their only bass player, Dave Tett, appeared on the Emotional Rehearsal but departed shortly after, leaving the band bassless until the transition to Death.
The band’s early recordings capture the raw, primitive aggression of early American extreme metal, showcasing their unique blend of speed, heaviness, and dark atmospherics that would influence the nascent death metal movement.
This page focuses primarily on Mantas T-shirts, hoodies, and apparel, sourced from Relapse Records and other trusted distributors. Designs reflect the band’s early, raw death metal aesthetic, perfect for fans of extreme metal history and classic death metal.
Stock rotates regularly, so if something catches your eye it’s worth picking it up while available. We’re also working to expand the range with more official T-shirts and hoodies in the near future. CD and vinyl releases are occasionally available alongside apparel.
Fans of early Death, Possessed, and Necrophagia will appreciate Mantas for their seminal role in shaping the extreme metal underground.
