Cryptic Slaughter are an American crossover thrash band formed in Santa Monica, California in 1984. They are widely regarded as one of the earliest and most important pioneers of crossover thrash, fusing hardcore punk speed with thrash metal precision at a time when both scenes were still developing.
Despite a relatively short initial run, Cryptic Slaughter left a lasting impact on extreme music, influencing both thrash metal and hardcore punk in equal measure.
