Black Label Society are an American heavy Metal band formed in 1998 in Los Angeles, California by guitarist and vocalist Zakk Wylde. Widely recognized for blending Heavy metal, Southern rock, and a distinct, riff-heavy Groove metal sound, the band built a reputation on thick guitar tones, bluesy lead work, and a raw, unpolished edge.
Their sound moves between crushing, down-tuned heaviness and more melodic, reflective passages, often within the same record. At its core, Black Label Society’s identity is rooted in guitar-driven songwriting and a deliberately rough, no-frills approach.
